BLiiNK – Custom Versions

After releasing BLiiNK: Staring Contest, my first video game, I had an idea… Why not create customizable versions of the game? The core gameplay would remain the same (defeating different characters in staring contests) but with different characters depending on the version. So I asked three friends what kind of version they would like and which characters they wanted.

That’s how three custom versions of BLiiNK were born. Not to gain anything in return, just for fun. I could have continued developing more versions, but I usually prefer focusing on new projects.

The first friend is a huge Pokémon fan, so he asked for a version featuring Pokémon and Red. I allowed myself to include Litten, my favorite Pokémon. Using the original game as a base but changing the characters, I created BLiiNK Poke Version.

On the BLiiNK: Staring Contest page, at the bottom, you can find links to download this version.

The second friend wanted to see her closest group of friends in the game, and since they loved going out partying, the version was called BLiiNK Disco Version.

Just like the Poke version, you can find download links for this version at the bottom of the BLiiNK: Staring Contest page.

And the last one… was a big Nicki Minaj fan and asked for the characters to be different versions of Nicki Minaj from music videos and public appearances. Honestly, I really like how those versions turned out, but nowadays the artist’s ideology leaves a lot to be desired, so that version is no longer available on the BLiiNK page.

The character art style in BLiiNK is still one of my favorites, so who knows, maybe someday I’ll feel like creating new versions again.
